5 Steps to Getting IT Done
You have a dream - the house will look magazine worthy, supper will be a gourmet delight, the children will play quietly together...
These are great dreams to have! But so often we get derailed when they do not happen instantly. Saying it out loud, it sounds ridiculous - of course we didn't really expect it to happen instantly. So how did we expect it to happen? Ahhh, that's the weakness in our plan - we didn't have a plan at all.
Anything is possible, but not by magic. Usually it takes a little bit of thought and a lot of hard work. It is a matter of not giving up, and having another go when we hit a hiccup.
Here are 5 simple steps to getting anything done:
1: Download a Goal Planning Printable
Although a plain sheet of paper and a pencil will do, by using a template like this, most of the thinking has been done for you.
A nice clean layout can help cement the ideas you have and lay them out in a logical order.
The template may also prompt you to think of elements of your goal that had not previously occurred to you!

2: Make a cup of tea
All the best thinking has peace and quiet. Make a cuppa... find a quiet(ish) space - this could be the trickiest part... and let those little grey cells do their part.
Take the time to be thorough. It will always be possible to adjust your plan, but the more detailed and meticulous you are from the outset, the more likely you are to succeed.
3: Visualise success
Before you get stuck in to actioning your newly written plan, just take a moment to pause. I use this time to pray - I dedicate my energy and attitude to God. Proverbs 16:3 says "Commit your actions to the Lord, and your plans will succeed."
Imagining how great the result of your goal will be really can help to get the project completed when the going gets tougher.
4: Just keep swimming
The initial energy and determination associated with a new goal can soon wear off. Take a leaf out of Dory's book, and just keep going. Just do a little more. Like walking up a mountain, keep putting one foot in front of the other. And like climbing a mountain, occasionally it can be helpful to take a breather and admire the view - take a look at how far you have come already. Keep imagining how much better it will be when you conquer this goal.
5: Plan for the tough days
The wall will come. There will be times when you decide this was a ridiculous goal. Who were you fooling to even attempt this crazy thing! You might as well just give up now and play Candy Crush instead... or maybe just 5 more minutes of Instagram...
You need to be ready for these times. Print out inspirational pictures or quotes. Have them ready to spur you on.
